"China had this one-child policy from 1980 till 2015. And, this was the time of, the thinking in the world was that humanity was going to devour the planet. There was this very influential book in the U.S., The Population Bomb, 'We're all gonna die of starvation', that came out in 68.
And...there was this hysteria about population. Many countries had tried to institute population controls. But the Chinese government was really in a position to do it because it's an authoritarian regime. There's not really big cultural, religious, precepts against birth control or abortion.
The Chinese felt that, to boost their economy, they had to keep population down, and it was it was a little bit of a mathematical sleight of hand, they wanted to boost per capita income.
It was very brutal. It's hard for me to say exactly when, but, mid-80s, I think the first stories came out about, people being killed by family planning..." Barbara Demick of BarbaraDemick.com ๐จ๐ณ

The individual is handicapped by coming face-to-face with a conspiracy so monstrous he cannot believe it exists. The American mind simply has not come to a realization of the evil which has been introduced into our midst. It rejects even the assumption that human creatures could espouse a philosophy which must ultimately destroy all that is good and decent.

Forwarded from Russians With Attitude
Huh, I somehow completely missed it, but turns out Russia has its own DOGE now:
A large-scale project has been launched in Russia to reform public administration. The Service for Effective State Governance (SESG) is being establishedโa specialized body reporting directly to the President of the Russian Federation, tasked with ensuring maximum efficiency and transparency in the operation of state institutions.
In the face of systemic problems such as budget losses, delays in government projects, and corruption, SESG is set to become the driving force for change. A key component will be the active integration of artificial intelligence (AI) to minimize the human factor and ensure objective decision-making.
Sergey Domanevsky, the author of the SESG project and an expert in artificial intelligence and public administration, emphasizes:
โWe are on the threshold of a new era in state governance. SESG represents a fundamentally different approachโrooted in technology, data analysis, and strict oversight. Our goal is to achieve national objectives on time with minimal resource expenditure, while eliminating corruption and bureaucratic obstacles.โ
SESG proposes a new governance model based on technological sovereignty and big data analytics. The central body will continuously monitor financial flows and agency performance using domestic AI tools. When deviations from standards are detected, mobile expert teams composed of IT specialists, legal advisors, HR auditors, and other experts will be deployed for on-site comprehensive audits. This will allow for swift identification of inefficiencies, prevention of data distortion, and generation of actionable optimization recommendations.
As Domanevsky notes:
โOur strength lies in combining a powerful AI analytical platform with mobile expert teams. This enables us not only to identify problems but to promptly implement optimal solutions.โ
SESGโs effectiveness will be measured by criteria such as:
Response time to queries (within 72 hours),
Automation of processes (at least 75%),
Non-productive expenses (no more than 10% of the budget),
On-time execution of national projects (at least 90โ95%).
Meeting these benchmarks will help save public funds and ensure timely implementation of government programs.
Domanevsky emphasized:
โSESG is an investment in Russiaโs future. We are confident that this system will improve the efficiency of public administration, strengthen public trust, and ensure sustainable development. SESG is about process optimization, not job cuts. We want civil servants to solve real problems, grow the economy, and ensure securityโwhile AI takes over routine and bureaucracy.โ

Israel is going to recruit over 10,000 "pastors, youth leaders, educators, and social media influencers" as โFriends of Zion Ambassadorsโ to "combat anti-Semitism," according to Mike Evans, founder of the Friends of Zion Heritage Center in Jerusalem.
The Jewish state will fly the hasbara recruits to Israel on all-expense paid trips, according to Evans.
"A larger percentage of the youth globally have turned against Israel. Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood supporters have been winning the ideological war by using social justice narratives," Evans says.
"[Recruits will] be required to complete a 'comprehensive online leadership and biblical worldview course' developed by Evans," CBN News reports.
"They will also be asked to sign 'an ambassador policy, signifying their dedication to the program's mission and values,'" CBN added.
"This year, the Ambassador Program plans to bring more than 1,000 participants, and in 2026, they aim to bring some 10,000 leaders to Israel." (Via CBN News)
