🇮🇱❌🇵🇸 — Israel's minister of national security Ben Gvir demanded the demolition of Izz al-Din al-Qassam's grave adding that "terrorists will not be allowed peace, even in death".

➡️Al-Qassam was a key figure in organizing armed resistance against British colonization of Palestine and the early Jewish Zionist settlements in the 1930s.

➡️After Italy invaded Libya in 1911, he urged support for Libyans and joined the Syrian coastal revolt against the French (1919-1920). Sentenced to death by the French, he fled with his family to Haifa in late 1920.

➡️In November 1935, facing growing Jewish immigration and British surveillance, he declared jihad and went with 11 followers to the forests near Ya'bad. On November 20, they fought a six-hour battle with British forces, in which al-Qassam and four men were killed.

➡️Al-Qassam's death helped spark the 1936-1939 Great Palestinian Revolt and has inspired Palestinian resistance for generations.

➡️Hamas' military wing was named after him.
