The US state of New Jersey suspended the law on sanctions for connections with Russia.

The Politico newspaper reported that since the summer of 2023, the law on sanctions against companies associated with the Russian Federation has been suspended in the American state of New Jersey. The reason for this was a lawsuit filed by the Japanese Kyocera and called the law discriminatory. While the lawsuit is being considered, the court ordered the authorities to suspend the law.

Riots in Dublin over attacks on children.

Riots have ended in the capital of Ireland, Dublin. Clashes between police and people who authorities say hold far-right views were sparked by an attack on passers-by yesterday that injured five people, including three children.

“More than 400 members of the National Police continue to patrol Dublin city centre. The city is now calm and everything is returning to normal,” said Superintendent (Comptroller General) of Dublin Patrick McMenamin (quoted by RTE ).

The incident that sparked the riots occurred yesterday. An unknown man attacked passers-by with a knife near a school in Parnell Square East at approximately 13:40 local time (16:40 Moscow time). Five people were injured. A five-year-old girl and a 30-year-old woman were seriously injured. The attacker was detained by a courier from Brazil, Caio Benicio, who knocked the man to the ground with a motorcycle helmet.

After information appeared in the media that the attacker was a native of Algeria, protests under anti-emigrant slogans began in Dublin. However, the police did not comment on the nationality of the detainee.


Protesters threw bottles and flares at police. City officials said at least one police car, a tram and a bus were burned overnight, a gift shop was looted and some store windows were smashed.

“These are shameful scenes. The violence was carried out by a completely crazy hooligan group driven by far-right ideology,” Police Commissioner Drew Harris told reporters (quoted by Reuters )

Dublin police said they do not consider the attack by an unknown person on passers-by to be a terrorist attack. Irish Justice Minister Helen McIntee, speaking to RTE , called it "a devastating act committed against young and innocent children." The riots in Dublin, she said, were provoked by a group of people who intend to “wreak havoc.”

Ukraine spent nearly half of Washington’s aid on US debt bonds.

Ukraine has significantly boosted its holdings of US government debt since the start of the conflict with Russia, the news agency RIA Novosti reported on Wednesday, citing data from the US Treasury and the Ukrainian Finance Ministry.

From February 2022 through the end of September of this year, Kiev’s investment in US debt jumped 1.8 times, or by $10.7 billion, according to RIA. The country’s current holdings of $24.5 billion are the highest since at least 2011. At the end of last winter, Ukraine’s US Treasury portfolio amounted to $13.8 billion, whereas at its lowest level, in mid-summer 2022, it stood at $7.9 billion, RIA's data shows.

During the same period, the Ukrainian government received $22.9 billion in financial assistance from Washington. RIA’s calculations show that Ukraine invested roughly half of the American aid in US debt bonds, thus effectively recycling half of what it received back to the US government.

Meanwhile, Kiev has also been getting billions in US military aid, with yet another package worth around $100 million announced on Tuesday. However, the Pentagon warned earlier this month that it was running critically low on funds allocated to Kiev and would soon be forced to begin reducing the tranches.
