Leaving Montana for Georgia (early flight!).

It was a productive visit to MT, including fishing with Dad, then four events in three days: Great Falls, Helena, and Bozeman.

I've been digging into Georgia data. Yesterday, I met with folks from Columbia County, Ga. I'll be with them next month (10/24)

"We don't love things."

My dad has taught me many important lessons, including "We don't love things."

I am keeping this in mind today, as I process the fact that my suitcase was pilfered during my last flight from Atlanta to Des Moines. Someone stole my mess kits, eating utensils, and the specially packaged fish, spices, drinks, and snacks. I use these often on the road, especially when in remote locations where everything is closed after my events.

It's not so much the stuff itself. It can be replaced for a couple hundred dollars. It's the notion that someone would invade my space and steal from me.

And then, when I complain to the airline, they say that they do not reimburse for food.

Hmmm.

Breathe in, breathe out: "We don't love things."

Directing my mind to more important things, like finishing up my Georgia data analysis.

If this is the worst thing that happens to me, I'm doing pretty good. Thank you, Father, for the privilege of serving you at this critical time in our nation's history.

"Navajo Nation"

I'm headed to the Navajo Nation, my first time to meet and speak with these folks about elections.

I'm not sure what to expect, but I love learning and new adventures.

I already feel an affinity toward these folks on several levels, including spiritual, cultural, and political. The Navajo "Wind Talkers" were heroes during WW2, and I am honored to be invited to speak to these people in person and on their own turf.

I modeled their Covid epidemic in real time throughout 2020, which was heartbreaking.

I also have some native ancestry. My middle name is "Geauwanna," which is Cherokee for "Big Black Horse," but you can call me "stud."
