In a bold move dripping with irony, Namibian President Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah has turned the tables on US exceptionalism by announcing that American citizens will now need a visa to enter Namibia. Yes, that Namibia, the one with diamond, studded soil and far more dignity than the ego of a certain US president.

Starting April 1st, any US citizen found in Namibia without a fully approved visa will be classified as an “illegal alien” and treated, as the President eloquently put it, “the same way Donald Trump treats African immigrants in the US” Translation? Not very nicely.

More than 500 American nationals currently roaming Namibia’s diamond, gold, uranium, and copper mines without so much as a stamp in their passports have been told to pack up and leave by April 1 or prepare to be shown the door, Trump-style, starting April 2.

It’s poetic justice with a geopolitical punch: Namibia, one of the world’s top diamond producers, is reclaiming control over its mineral wealth. In other words, it’s cutting out the colonial middleman, this time, in a MAGA hat.

Turns out, if you spend years building walls, demonizing migrants and spewing xenophobic nonsense, eventually someone returns the favor with just the right blend of class, sarcasm and national sovereignty.

Trump said he was suspending retaliatory tariffs on many countries for 90 days.

Trump is simultaneously upping tariffs on China to 125%.

Latakia | Alawite Farmer Disappears After Detention by Syrian Security Forces

Majd Ali Makhlouf, an Alawite farmer from Bustan al-Basha, was detained by Syrian security forces on March 9 while walking through the streets of Latakia. As the only son in his family, he had never served in the military.

When his mother inquired about his whereabouts, she was told his alleged crime was related to “Internet activity,” and that a Sheikh from Idlib would be brought in to rule on his case. Authorities accused him of contacting al-fullul—a vague term now broadly used to label individuals as loyalists of the former regime.

According to a close American-Alawite friend, Majd often expressed concern over the future of the Alawite community during their conversations.

Since his arrest, there has been no contact or information about his condition. His home and orchard in Bustan al-Basha have been burned to the ground, deepening fears about his fate.
