We hope to see many of you at the protest on 17th January as the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill continues to progress through the House of Lords many are still pushing back, and we are hopeful some amendments will be accepted at report stage. From a home ed experience perspective also remember that you can take your children to watch the report stage debates in the public gallery. Which is an interesting learning experience. The first report stage date is 14th January, the second is 19th you can keep an eye here https://bills.parliament.uk/bills/3909/stages/20215 you can also write to members of the house of lords or your children can (we have noticed children appear to get quicker response than adults) if you want them to understand why changes to the bill are needed or to simply send a quick note to suggest a new amendment. The latest marshalled list of proposed amendments is here https://bills.parliament.uk/publications/64107/documents/7557 but they are continuously added to until the point the clause is being discussed. The Home Ed clauses are in the second half of the bill so we still have a couple of weeks to influence those bits. If you are coming on the 17th or if you are not and know some people who could help with Stewarding please get in touch, unfortunately we had a few Stewards drop out in the last couple of days, but also already have speakers with travel booked and the protest is timed for report stage influence. Michelle's motivation in leading the protest is simple: her son loves home education and she wants to ensure that when he is fully grown if he has children and wants to home educate his own that the opportunity is still available to him.

Very comprehensive and informative. You've had very interesting experiences!

However, I am not sure if you're saying we all must agree on one type of action being "the best way to inform the masses" though?

Or that we must all agree that we must simply act, get the information out there in order to get the scale of mass non-compliance we need?

Once again though I have to say, standing on the street handing out leaflets (or doing so at marches and rallies) is one communication method. Though I absolutely agree it is powerful, neccessary, effective and more of it should be done - information today spreads a lot through digital platforms, media, partnerships, creative formats, and direct engagement... often reaching far more people, more effectively, and for longer periods of time.

I think this is why they're trying to get the likes of us off those platforms - knowing we won't comply with certain 'requirements' we may soon be faced with... intentional: to shut down the resistance community online.

Perhaps it would be helpful to share some ways in which people can help disseminate information and reach the public.

Operation Talla – Unconstitutional and Unlawful

On the 20th December 2021 a group of concerned citizens presented evidence to the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) alleging “serious indictable offences arising from the manufacture, promotion, and administration of the COVID-19 vaccines.” As a consequence of Operation Talla, those allegations were not investigated by the MPS.

Many similar allegations submitted to other police forces around the country were not investigated either, for the same reason.

Just an FYI...

The legal offence criminalising the creation (and request for creation) of intimate images without consent including AI generated/deepfakes, was already included in the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, which became law in June 2025.

The offence will be brought into force this week, meaning they will start enforcing it.

So the news isn’t that the UK just invented this new law - it’s 'activating and prioritising enforcement of a law' that already exists.

In UK law, an Act often doesn’t automatically come fully into force on Royal Assent. Instead, specific provisions are brought into force by a commencement order (a type of statutory instrument) which is issued by the relevant Secretary of State.

The offence is detailed under Section 138 of the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.

The relevant offence is inserted into the Sexual Offences Act 2003 as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.

The new offence is in s. 66E (and linked s. 66F) of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, as amended by the 2025 Act.

The offence can apply wherever in the world the creator or the request comes from (extraterritorial reach) as stated in s. 66F.

Including if a person intentionally creates an intimate image of another adult without consent, whether or not the image is actually generated.

This captures AI generated images, including deepfakes, where the person depicted did not consent.

The term 'purported intimate image' includes images or videos that 'appear to be of a person in an intimate state.'

The offence as currently drafted is a summary offence, meaning:

Up to the maximum term for summary offences in England & Wales (typically up to 51 weeks imprisonment) and/or a fine.

This does not cover the creation of purported intimate images of children, as the criminal law already captures the making of indecent images including deepfake images of children (those under the age of 18) in s. 1 of the Protection of Children Act 1978. UK child-protection law was written broadly enough that it already captures AI and deepfakes...

This Bill is being pushed through despite serious, unresolved concerns:

MPs and campaigners have described it as poorly drafted, weakly evidenced, and based on inadequate impact assessments.

It is silent on children’s voices and fails to properly protect children’s right to education.

It undermines parental responsibility and school autonomy, threatening families’ freedom to choose the right educational path for their children.

For home-educating families, the Bill wrongly conflates home education with safeguarding risk introducing intrusive bureaucracy and treating parents as suspects, regardless of children’s wellbeing or success.

Its sweeping reforms affecting academies, curriculum, home education, data collection and attendance have been labelled “educational vandalism”, risking decades of progress in educational freedom and quality.

This is not reform.
This is overreach.

We want legislation that genuinely protects children not one that controls families and centralises power.
That means:

Withdraw the Bill now and rebuild it properly, with robust evidence, genuine consultation and respect for children’s rights.

Protect children’s voice, agency, privacy and equality, in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

Reject blanket policies that stigmatise home-educating families and restrict flexible, safe education choices.

Demand real accountability, not vague assurances and weak assessments.
