This is actually very important. For days, the narrative was being pushed toward escalation; violence on the streets, reports of executions, mounting pressure for the United States to “do something.” The familiar script was unfolding, one we’ve seen many times before, where internal unrest is amplified, weaponised, and used to justify external intervention.

Israel has wanted the U.S. to fight Iran for decades, and the usual channels were clearly active again; intelligence pressure, media framing, moral blackmail, the suggestion that only American force could stop the bloodshed. The CIA–Mossad axis has played this game before.

Trump made his red line clear: if the killing of protesters continued, intervention would be on the table, but then something changed.

Now Trump posts this and there have been no strikes, instead a statement suggesting that executions have been halted following his warning, and a clear signal that restraint, not war, is the desired outcome.

This once more shows how Trump is not falling for Israel’s usual playscript. The bait was there but Trump didn’t take it.

Instead, what we see is pressure without invasion, deterrence without war. This doesn’t mean Iran is suddenly virtuous, or that there aren’t real grievances on the ground. It means that Trump appears unwilling to let legitimate unrest be hijacked into a regime change operation that conveniently serves someone else’s long-standing agenda.

For me, this is significant, it suggests he is not falling for the manipulation, it suggests he understands the script and it suggests, once again, that his foreign policy is not run out of Tel Aviv, Langley, or the usual neocon playbook.

He might have to intervene in Iran but it will be on his terms and for his good reasons, not Israel’s.
