🇷🇺🤝🇧🇷 On March 27, Brazilian Ambassador to Jamaica Mrs. Elza de Castro invited the Russian delegation participating in the work of the Council of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) to a reception to present the Brazilian candidate for the Secretary-General of the Authority, Ms. Leticia Reis de Carvalho.

🇺🇳 Ms. Carvalho has been Head of the UNEP Marine and Freshwater Branch for four years. Prior to that, she held numerous positions in the Brazilian Ministry of Environment and has participated in various specialized venues.

💬 The Russian delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Mr. Dmitry Tetenkin and the Permanent Representative to ISA Mr. Sergey Petrovich, met the candidate and discussed with her the vision on the Authority's current issues, as well as the prospects for organization's cooperation with Russia.

🗳 The elections of the ISA Secretary General to be held during the Assembly meeting from July 29 to August 2.

🇷🇺🤝🇺🇳 28 марта прошла встреча российской делегации, участвующей в работе Совета Международного органа по морскому дну (МОМД), с Генеральным секретарём международной организации М.Лоджом.

💬 Генеральный секретарь вместе с руководителем делегации, замминистра природных ресурсов и экологии Д.Д.Тетенькиным обсудили ряд вопросов, включая:

🔹 грядущие выборы Генсека организации;

🔹 занятие россиянами должностей в структурах Органа;

🔹 перспективы научного сотрудничества в сфере глубоководных исследований;

🔹 участие представителей МОМД в проводимых в России крупных международных мероприятиях.

🌐 По мнению М.Лоджа, российская делегация вносит огромный вклад в работу Органа, он также высоко ценит её конструктивный подход к разрешению текущих вопросов его деятельности. В свою очередь, Д.Д.Тетенькин подтвердил намерение и впредь сотрудничать с МОМД, а также заверил партнёров в дальнейшем усилении российского представительства в организации.

💬 The SG together with the head of the delegation, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Mr. Dmitry Tetenkin discussed a number of issues, including:

🔹 the upcoming SG elections;

🔹 employment of Russians to the Authority's structures;

🔹 prospects for scientific cooperation in deep-sea research;

🔹 participation of ISA representatives in international specialized events and fora held in Russia.

🌐 According to Mr. Lodge, the Russian delegation makes a huge contribution to the Authority's work, he also highly appreciates its constructive approach to resolving current issues before the ISA. In his turn, Mr. Tetenkin confirmed the commitment to cooperating with the Authority and assured the partners of further strengthening the Russian representation in the international organisation.

🇺🇳 С 18 по 29 марта прошла первая часть 29-й сессии Совета Международного органа по морскому дну (МОМД).

🇷🇺 Российская делегация в составе представителей Посольства России в Ямайке, Минприроды России и подведомственных ему организаций приняла активное участие в работе над обсуждением проекта правил разработки полезных ископаемых в международном районе морского дна. Руководили делегацией замминистра природных ресурсов и экологии Д.Д.Тетенькин и Постпред России при МОМД С.С.Петрович.

В ходе первой части сессии росделегация:

🔹 сделала заявление о непризнании Россией установленных США в одностороннем порядке внешних границ континентального шельфа;

🔹 приняла участие в подписании соглашения о продлении контракта между АО "Южморгеология" и МОМД;

🔹 провела встречу с бразильским кандидатом на пост Генсека международной организации Л.Карвальо;

🔹 провела встречу с нынешним Генсеком МОМД М.Лоджом.

📆 Совет Органа возобновит работу 15 июля в ходе второй части 29-й сессии.

🇺🇳 From March 18 to 29, the first part of the 29th session of the Council of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) was held.

🇷🇺 The Russian delegation consisting of representatives of the Embassy, Russian MNRE and its subordinates took an active part in the work on the draft regulations on the exploitation of mineral resources in the international seabed area. The delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Mr. Dmitry Tetenkin and Permanent Representative of Russia to ISA Mr. Sergey Petrovich.

During the session's first part the delegation:

🔹 made a statement on Russia’s non-recognition of the US extension of its continental shelf's external limits;

🔹 took part in the signing of the contract extension agreement between JSC Yuzhmorgeologiya and ISA;

🔹 met with the Brazilian candidate for the SG Ms. Leticia Carvalho;

🔹 met with the incumbent SG Mr. Michael W. Lodge.

📆 The Council will resume its work on July 15 during the second part of the 29th session.
