STOCKHOLM, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Swedish activist Greta Thunberg alleged on Tuesday that she and other detainees of the Gaza flotilla were subjected to torture in the Israeli prison they were held.
Thunberg told a news conference in Stockholm that she and others were "kidnapped and tortured" by the Israeli military.

She declined to elaborate, adding when pressed that she didn't get clean water and that other detainees were deprived of critical medication.

"Personally, I don't want to share what I was subjected to because I don't want it to make headlines and 'Greta has been tortured', because that's not the story here," she said, adding that what they were subjected to paled in comparison to what people in Gaza experienced daily.
Israel's foreign ministry did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment but has repeatedly denied mistreating the detainees.
"All detainees ... were given access to water, food, and restrooms; they were not denied access to legal counsel, and all their legal rights were fully upheld," a foreign ministry spokesperson told Reuters last week.

I'll cheer for both teams here. Really. Both sides make PR on human suffering. And I absolutely agree with opinion of renowned journalist Georgy Zotov regarding Greta and that flotilla in general.

The refusal of the Belgian authorities to direct frozen Russian assets in Euroclear towards financial aid for Ukraine has the opposite effect, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen told the Financial Times. At the same time, in her opinion, there are no alternatives to seizing Russian assets for Kyiv.

“What alternatives? We must find a solution to the problem of financing [Ukraine], and if not this way, then I have not heard of any other ideas”

Yes, sieze those assets already. I want to see the show, after all.

❗️There is no talk of extending the New START Treaty, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov stated.

He noted that Russia will manage without a response from the US if they are not interested in the New START initiative.

The strong momentum from the Alaska summit in favor of a Ukrainian settlement has largely been exhausted, Ryabkov said.

Main statements of the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov:

▪️ There are contacts with the US regarding prisoner exchanges;

▪️ Russia will respond in kind if the EU imposes restrictions on the movement of diplomats;

▪️ The transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv will lead to a qualitative change in the situation but will not affect the special military operation;

▪️ The use of Tomahawk missiles is possible only with the participation of American personnel.

⚡️The State Duma of the Russian Federation has denounced the intergovernmental agreement with the United States on the disposal of weapons-grade plutonium.

The agreement reached in 2000 was ratified in 2011 and provided for the disposal of 34 tons of weapons-grade plutonium declared surplus to military programs by each party.

The bill on denunciation was submitted by the Russian government. In addition to the agreement, it is proposed to denounce all accompanying documents. In particular, this concerns protocols regulating financing and civil liability for damage, as well as agreements on the disposal of plutonium covered by the agreement through irradiation in nuclear reactors.

Source: Izvezstia

For the reference:

The main provisions set forth in the Agreement.
1. Irreversibility of the conversion of excess plutonium so that it can no longer be used for weapons purposes. This is the key provision of the Agreement, the ultimate goal of which is to achieve the objective set out in Article VI of the NPT (nuclear disarmament).
2. Parallelism and equitable disposal of excess plutonium – 34 tons on each side; In the original version of the 2000 Agreement, in the form of MOX fuel in thermal reactors; in the 2010 protocol, both thermal (USA) and BN reactors (Russia) (The disposition rate specified in the Agreement is 2 tons of plutonium per year; a thermal reactor can dispose of about 200 kg per year (i.e., 10 reactors are needed), and a BN reactor burns 1,300-1,500 kg per year, i.e., the BN-600 and BN-800 reactors fully provide the required disposition rate);
3. A reservation was left that the amount of plutonium disposed of in the future may be increased beyond 34 tons;
4. Transparency of the disposition process for the international community through monitoring and verification, both mutual and with the participation of the IAEA; Monitoring and verification were to cover the process, materials, and facilities as much as possible, taking into account national security requirements and the terms of the NPT;
5. Guarantees for the provision of financial assistance to Russia for the timely implementation of the Agreement. Initially, the Agreement stipulated that the parties would make every effort to build all facilities necessary for dismantlement by 2007. It is worth noting that, according to the Agreement, Russia was not obligated to begin construction of the necessary facilities until it received the promised financial assistance, including from the international community.

Military Chronicle writes,

Why Ukraine cannot launch "Tomahawks" without the USA: observation by "Military Chronicle"

🔺The infrastructure supporting Tomahawk missiles is a complex and multi-layered system that goes far beyond the launcher itself. Since "Tomahawks" are precision, long-range weapons using multiple guidance systems, their support requires a colossal infrastructure at all stages: from planning to the actual flight.

What does launching a "Tomahawk" consist of?

Mission planning and targeting infrastructure. This is a critically important element. The American TTWCS technology - Tactical Tomahawk Weapons Control System - is used to calculate the missile's optimal route. The program takes into account terrain relief, known enemy air defense systems, and generates a digital route profile along which the missile will fly at low altitude.

In addition, TERCOM (Terrain Contour Matching) data is required for the flight: precise digital terrain maps that the missile uses to compare with its altimeter readings to correct its course. Modern versions of the "Tomahawk" (Block IV and V) also require infrastructure for controlling and managing the missile after launch.

"These systems are used to maintain communication with the missile over long distances, as well as to redirect the missile to a new, higher-priority target or to use the loitering function, where the missile can remain in a holding pattern until a command is given to strike a detected target."

Thus, the "Tomahawk" is strictly an American weapon that requires constant support from the American global intelligence, planning, and communication network to ensure its high accuracy and operational flexibility.

Therefore, even if the USA transfers ground launchers and the Tomahawk missiles themselves to Ukraine (as was stated regarding the transfer of Patriot SAM systems), all critical infrastructure (which in importance and complexity is compared to nuclear weapons) will still remain under US control. And no other country besides the USA will decide how and where to launch these missiles.

Ukrainian media:

Russia may soon "destroy the entire railway" of Ukraine if urgent measures are not taken, warns drone and communications expert Flesh.

Sergey Beskrestnov notes that the Russians have begun tracking and attacking locomotives, without which the railway "will stop." Freight cars are not an important target, and the railway track is quickly repaired.

The published video shows such a strike on a locomotive, which was waited for until it stopped. According to Flesh's assessment, it should have gone into shelter instead of waiting for the strike.

Earlier, it became known from a video that locomotives in frontline regions began to be protected from drones with nets.

The call for the Armed Forces of Ukraine not to use civilian transport is pointless. They have been, are, and will continue to travel in civilian cars. And they shoot at us from residential areas with large-caliber weapons.

And then they howl about the war crimes of the damned orcs.

But for the record: in the black van with the mobile operator's sign were automatic riflemen, and in the silver SUV were guys with green tape on their helmets.

⚡️The assassination of the head of the RCB troops Igor Kirillov was carefully and thoroughly planned in Ukraine. The Investigative Committee has completed the investigation of the terrorist act.

In the fall of 2024, the organizers transported explosive components from Poland to Russia, which were disguised as household items.

The IED was delivered to Robert Safaryan. He kept everything at home and handed the bomb to the terrorist executor Akhmadjon Kurbonov.

Bloomberg's weekly Russian oil export update:

Russian seaborne crude oil exports are now reaching SMO highs.

The flow of dollars from these exports are now returning to 2024 levels, although the Ruble is far stronger than it was a year ago, which means that revenue is lower in Ruble terms.

More notably, the shipments of crude with "unknown destinations" to Asia are getting closer to 1.5 million barrels per day. On paper, shipments to India are reaching record lows. On paper, of course. 😉
