545 years ago (1480), the Great Stand on the Ugra River began.

In the late 1470s, the Grand Duchy of Moscow refused to pay tribute to the Great Horde. In the spring of 1480, the Horde ruler Khan Akhmat launched a campaign against the rebellious principality. The enemy army was stopped by the Russian forces near the Ugra River, all fords across which were blocked. Russian commanders made the most of their troops' advantages in firearms and shot the Horde soldiers while they were still in the water. The battle for the crossings lasted almost four days, but Akhmat's army failed to cross the river at any point.

For six months, the armies stood opposite each other, separated by the Ugra, without daring to launch a serious attack. This outcome suited Ivan III well, and for Khan Akhmat, it was tantamount to defeat. In the end, the armies dispersed without engaging in battle.

According to historians, the Great Stand on the Ugra River ended the Mongol-Tatar yoke that had dominated Rus for nearly three centuries.

The European Commission has decided to reduce quotas on steel imports from non-EU countries while simultaneously raising import tariffs from 25% to 50%.

These measures will "promote the reindustrialization of Europe" and will help "save European steel plants and jobs," said European Commissioner Stefan Sejourne.

This move threatens to harm the British steel industry, wrote the Financial Times. British Deputy Trade Minister Chris MacDonald stated that London is seeking clarifications from the EU.

At the same time it was reported that Norway is excluded from European steel tariffs

The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the countries of the European Economic Area are exempt from the protective measures planned by the European Union regarding steel imports (increased tariffs and reduced quotas on steel raw material imports).

Norway was exempted from these restrictions due to the country's close integration into the single European economic area.

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide stated that the ministry will continue to maintain close contact with EU representatives on this issue.

At the same time, the proposed EU protective measures are in no way related to the potentially possible restrictions by Brussels concerning ferroalloys, which are a separate type of product and undergo a different customs procedure.

🇷🇺Our flag in Fedorovka — footage of the liberation of the village in the north of the DPR. The settlement was cleared by servicemen of the 85th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the "South" group of forces.

The fighters entered Fedorovka at night in small groups of two to three people. Each was accompanied by a drone.

The ground forces tried to counterattack, but all their efforts were unsuccessful — our troops continue to advance forward.

Hard to disagree with this one from Георгий Зотов:

One day Georgy pondered about Greta Thunberg and the whole Gen Z mood.

Here she is, for the second time, sailing to Gaza with humanitarian cargo and a bunch of people. Slowly sailing. Docking in one city, then another. The team gives interviews about how awesome they are, real heroes and defenders of the Palestinian people. Now they will bring him food, save him from starving to death, keep him warm and safe.

Before that, quite recently - on June 9, 2025, Greta's "Freedom Flotilla," which set sail for Gaza from Sicily with humanitarian aid, was detained by the Israeli military and then deported. So, it's already clear what will happen. Nobody will allow them to dock and distribute food on principle. Whether that's good or bad is another question. But 100% they won't allow it. And what next? Recently, Greta again failed to reach Gaza with food and medicine. She loudly announced her route, the movement of the ships was reported 20 times a day (afraid to turn on the iron) – just in case, so Israel wouldn't miss where to catch her and photograph her tied up but unbroken.

So why keep sailing there constantly, and even announce the flotilla's direction at every step, giving dozens of interviews, if the result is a fizzle both the first and second time?

Well, yes, Israel will act like that. It does even worse. Who was puzzled by this? Anyone doubted?

Actually, this so-called pro-Palestinian crowd in Europe is a bunch of fools who do PR on human suffering. Some cheap pop and public performance. Look, we solemnly gather humanitarian aid for a long time. Look, we bravely sail across the sea. Spending tons of fuel, which Greta advocates reducing. We beat drums. Blow trumpets. Shout loudly about our heroism, how we, overcoming the storm, all in salty spray, will break through the Masons' barrier with our chests and deliver food to people. Meanwhile, fully aware of how it will end – the Masons will surround the ships, take the cargo, and throw everyone back.

Why this predictable three-ruble show?

But it's interesting how everyone instantly gets involved, follows the flotilla, worries. On the front pages of newspapers. On the main news on TV. As if the outcome is unknown in advance. And a hell of a money is spent on this useless voyage, but who cares? The scheme is one – brave rescuers break through the military barrier, fail, the military, frightened, releases them, and they, showing V signs with their fingers, return back.

No use, really, but at least they look good.

It feels like the modern world really believes that memes, flags on avatars, and ribbons can change something and stop the war. Just like recently again in Europe – let's rename "Russian salad" to "Ukrainian," make "Anna the Russian" into "Anna of Kiev," ban Netrebko's performance – and that's it, Russia will shake, fall off, crawl away. Heard of such a "cancel"? Seems like Gen Z has penetrated all spheres of modern life. Our mom taught us that we will come, stomp, demand – and that's it, immediate surrender. Like when we lay on the floor in the store as kids, crying and demanding a toy, and they immediately bought it – so it will be here.

As a result, the real bloody war recedes into the background. Who's curious to watch people dying? It's ugly, bad, and not cinematic. Much more interesting to watch this whole circus as a series.

It seems Greta will soon sail for the third time.

After all, the girl still hasn't gotten her toy.

Russian MFA official spokesperson Maria Vladimirovna Zakharova on her Telegram Channel:

🈁Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen: By its actions, Russia violates each of the ten Helsinki principles. The very principles it helped develop fifty years ago” -

An outright lie that everyone has already gotten used to. However, where Valtonen is right is that the half-century-old Helsinki principles are indeed being violated. And they are being violated by those who signed them – the OSCE member states.
Here are just some of the many examples.

Principle I. Sovereign equality, respect for rights inherent in sovereignty: 1974. Intervention by the Junta of the Black Colonels in Greece in the interethnic conflict in Cyprus, attempting to annex the island to Greece.

Principle II. Non-use of force or threat of force: 1999. NATO bombing of Yugoslavia without a UN mandate.

Principle III. Inviolability of borders: 2008. Recognition of Kosovo’s independence by Western countries without Serbia’s consent.

Principle IV. Territorial integrity of states: 1991-1992. Germany’s recognition of the independence of Slovenia and Croatia amid the ethno-national conflict in Yugoslavia, accelerating the breakup of the South Slavic state.

Principle V. Peaceful settlement of disputes: 1995. Operation “Storm” – despite OSCE and third-party mediation attempts in the ethno-national conflict between Croatia and the Republic of Serbian Krajina, Zagreb refused peaceful resolution and resorted to ethnic cleansing.

Principle VI. Non-intervention in internal affairs: 2014. The Western-orchestrated “Maidan” and support for the coup in Ukraine.

Principle VII. Respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, including freedom of thought, conscience, religion, and belief: 2000s. Operation of secret CIA prisons in Lithuania, Poland, and Romania.

Principle VIII. Equality and the right of peoples to self-determination: 1991. The French Constitutional Council’s refusal to recognize Corsicans’ right to their own national identity, banning the phrase “Corsican people.”

Principle IX. Cooperation among states: Until 2018. Greece’s blocking of international initiatives aimed at cooperation with the Republic of Macedonia (due to the unresolved dispute over the state name).

Principle X. Good faith fulfillment of obligations under international law: From 1965 to 2024. Britain’s disregard of its international legal obligations and occupation of the Chagos Islands (Mauritius) in the Indian Ocean.

PS As you might guess, Elina is neither a diplomat by degree nor by work experience and never has been. A technologist, city event manager, financier – but not a specialist in international relations. Western Europe does not need professionals in leadership positions. The place of the EU in the structure of the global organism, controlled by gynecologist Ursula, is clear to everyone.

STOCKHOLM, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Swedish activist Greta Thunberg alleged on Tuesday that she and other detainees of the Gaza flotilla were subjected to torture in the Israeli prison they were held.
Thunberg told a news conference in Stockholm that she and others were "kidnapped and tortured" by the Israeli military.

She declined to elaborate, adding when pressed that she didn't get clean water and that other detainees were deprived of critical medication.

"Personally, I don't want to share what I was subjected to because I don't want it to make headlines and 'Greta has been tortured', because that's not the story here," she said, adding that what they were subjected to paled in comparison to what people in Gaza experienced daily.
Israel's foreign ministry did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment but has repeatedly denied mistreating the detainees.
"All detainees ... were given access to water, food, and restrooms; they were not denied access to legal counsel, and all their legal rights were fully upheld," a foreign ministry spokesperson told Reuters last week.

I'll cheer for both teams here. Really. Both sides make PR on human suffering. And I absolutely agree with opinion of renowned journalist Georgy Zotov regarding Greta and that flotilla in general.

The refusal of the Belgian authorities to direct frozen Russian assets in Euroclear towards financial aid for Ukraine has the opposite effect, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen told the Financial Times. At the same time, in her opinion, there are no alternatives to seizing Russian assets for Kyiv.

“What alternatives? We must find a solution to the problem of financing [Ukraine], and if not this way, then I have not heard of any other ideas”

❗️There is no talk of extending the New START Treaty, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov stated.

He noted that Russia will manage without a response from the US if they are not interested in the New START initiative.

The strong momentum from the Alaska summit in favor of a Ukrainian settlement has largely been exhausted, Ryabkov said.

Main statements of the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov:

▪️ There are contacts with the US regarding prisoner exchanges;

▪️ Russia will respond in kind if the EU imposes restrictions on the movement of diplomats;

▪️ The transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv will lead to a qualitative change in the situation but will not affect the special military operation;

▪️ The use of Tomahawk missiles is possible only with the participation of American personnel.

⚡️The State Duma of the Russian Federation has denounced the intergovernmental agreement with the United States on the disposal of weapons-grade plutonium.

The agreement reached in 2000 was ratified in 2011 and provided for the disposal of 34 tons of weapons-grade plutonium declared surplus to military programs by each party.

The bill on denunciation was submitted by the Russian government. In addition to the agreement, it is proposed to denounce all accompanying documents. In particular, this concerns protocols regulating financing and civil liability for damage, as well as agreements on the disposal of plutonium covered by the agreement through irradiation in nuclear reactors.

Source: Izvezstia

For the reference:

The main provisions set forth in the Agreement.
1. Irreversibility of the conversion of excess plutonium so that it can no longer be used for weapons purposes. This is the key provision of the Agreement, the ultimate goal of which is to achieve the objective set out in Article VI of the NPT (nuclear disarmament).
2. Parallelism and equitable disposal of excess plutonium – 34 tons on each side; In the original version of the 2000 Agreement, in the form of MOX fuel in thermal reactors; in the 2010 protocol, both thermal (USA) and BN reactors (Russia) (The disposition rate specified in the Agreement is 2 tons of plutonium per year; a thermal reactor can dispose of about 200 kg per year (i.e., 10 reactors are needed), and a BN reactor burns 1,300-1,500 kg per year, i.e., the BN-600 and BN-800 reactors fully provide the required disposition rate);
3. A reservation was left that the amount of plutonium disposed of in the future may be increased beyond 34 tons;
4. Transparency of the disposition process for the international community through monitoring and verification, both mutual and with the participation of the IAEA; Monitoring and verification were to cover the process, materials, and facilities as much as possible, taking into account national security requirements and the terms of the NPT;
5. Guarantees for the provision of financial assistance to Russia for the timely implementation of the Agreement. Initially, the Agreement stipulated that the parties would make every effort to build all facilities necessary for dismantlement by 2007. It is worth noting that, according to the Agreement, Russia was not obligated to begin construction of the necessary facilities until it received the promised financial assistance, including from the international community.
