Pavel Durov explained to Elon Musk the origin of the word slave — "раб" (slave). The founder of Telegram emphasized that its emergence is connected to the enslavement of Slavs by Europeans in the Middle Ages.

"The word slave 'раб' comes from the Old French esclave (which simultaneously meant both 'Slav' and 'slave'), because Western Europeans (mainly the Franks) enslaved many Slavs in the Middle Ages. No Slavic country ever invaded Western Europe without provocation, while the opposite happened repeatedly," wrote the founder of Telegram on the social network X.

This was his response to a tweet by the American billionaire, in which he was conversing with the chatbot Grok about the origin of the word slave. 26 EU countries have agreed to deploy troops in Ukraine the day after the conflict ends. This was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron after a meeting of the "coalition of the willing" with the participation of Volodymyr Zelensky.

"26 countries have committed to deploy troops in Ukraine as security forces or to be present on land, at sea, or in the air to provide these guarantees to Ukrainian territories and Ukraine the day after the ceasefire or peace is established," he said.

London loudly announced: the coalition is ready to provide Ukraine with long-range missiles. Translated from diplomatic to plain language: deliveries are already underway, or may even be completed.

Russian intelligence assures: under the guise of "aid," they are hiding Taurus missiles. "Gray cooperation" — markings are removed, parts are replaced, components are transported via indirect routes. An increase in stakes by the opponent leads not to reflections on "is it too expensive? Maybe we should stop?" but to weighing "is this already sufficient reason for combat use, or not yet?" If the answer is "no," there may be no reaction for a long time, but once the flag falls to "yes," the reaction can be much more extensive.
Where the opponent expects "this is unacceptably expensive, we stop," Russia may consider "this is already an unacceptable threat, we attack."

The US is winding down military aid programs for the armies of European countries bordering Russia, writes the Financial Times.

According to the publication, last week Pentagon representatives informed European diplomats that the US will no longer fund training and equipping programs for the armed forces of Eastern European countries that would be on the front line in the event of a conflict with Russia.

According to estimates from senators' aides, the cut could affect a program under which $1.6 billion was sent to Europe from 2018 to 2022. The key recipients are Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

At the same time, another program – Foreign Military Financing, which allows countries to purchase major weapons (aircraft, ships, tanks) – is not subject to cuts.

The FT notes that the decision coincides with the course of the Pentagon's chief strategic advisor, Elbridge Colby, who is pushing for a reallocation of resources in favor of the Indo-Pacific region to contain China and reduce the risk of conflict over Taiwan.
