Description: This icase PhD studentships has been developed between Salford University and Machine Learning in Athletics (MLA) ltd a joint Anglo-Italian start up technology company. This company aim to incorporate biomechanical profiling and modelling of sport specific movements along with other data streams into machine learning algorithms to predict injury risk in professional football. This PhD will encompass a series of projects to establish the validity and reliability of a movement screening profile to identify injury risk in professional footballers. Specifically, these projects will use 3D motion capture to establish the validity and reliability of wearable technology incorporating inertial motion sensors to capture accurately identify specific kinematic and kinetic parameters associated with musculoskeletal injury risk. Then pilot the use of these technologies in predicting injury in professional football players.
Candidates: Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy or Sports Rehabilitation/Therapy and potentially have an MSc in a sports injury management or sport science related field.

Within the context of the expansion of the research of the REVAL Rehabilitation Research group of Hasselt University the faculty of Rehabilitation sciences wishes to inform about a vacant PhD position (100%) investigating the influence of sports activities/exercise on tinnitus perception. You will be part of the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences at UHasselt. This faculty organizes an educational program consisting of a 3-year academic bachelor and a 2-year academic master program within Rehabilitation Sciences and Kinesitherapy. This program has approximately 850 students. Within the faculty, REVAL ACADEMY organizes interdisciplinary continuing education courses aimed at professionals in healthcare and rehabilitation. The proposed research will be conducted within the rehabilitation research group REVAL. REVAL is an interdisciplinary and translational research group which performs research in tehe domains of pediatric, neurological and musculoskeletal rehabilitation, biomechanics, health psychology, mental health care and rehabilitation of internal disorders. Within the perspective of a "civic university", the RELAB platform facilitates the provision of evidence-based advice to individuals with a functional problem and professionals within the healthcare sector as well as to companies. This PhD will be performed in collaboration with the Jessa Hospital.
