Another faction, still influenced by the controversial former head of the presidential office, Andrey Yermak, is far less inclined toward compromise. Zelensky is said to be balancing between the two camps while advancing his own position.

A source close to the Ukrainian team described the chances of a breakthrough as “50–50.”
