🏁💬🇷🇺 A NATO war game simulating a clash with Russia in the Baltic region ended in a rapid victory for “Russian forces,” The Wall Street Journal reports.

The exercise was organized by the German newspaper Die Welt together with the German Center for Wargaming at the Helmut Schmidt University of the German Armed Forces. Under the scenario’s conditions, the United States did not intervene on NATO’s side.

Held in December, the war game involved 16 former senior officials, lawmakers, and prominent security experts from Germany and NATO.
They played out a scenario envisioned for October 2026.

“The notional ‘Russians’ achieved most of their objectives without moving many units,” said Bartłomiej Kot, a Polish security analyst who played the role of Poland’s prime minister.

The scenario was based on Russia “seizing” the Lithuanian border city of Mariampolė near Belarus, advancing from the Kaliningrad region. In the exercise, the United States refused to invoke NATO’s Article 5 collective defense clause, while the German side hesitated.

Poland mobilized forces but did not send them across the Lithuanian border. A German brigade already stationed in Lithuania also stayed out, partly due to Russia’s use of drones to lay mines on key roads.

🇺🇦 The Narcoführer has promised that after the war Ukraine will move to a fully contract-based army and end mobilization — but admits there is currently no money to make it happen.

Speaking alongside Polish Prime Minister Tusk, he said Ukraine plans to “preserve its 800,000-strong force" and gradually shift it from a mobilized structure to a professional volunteer army once the fighting stops.

He stressed that recruitment would require much higher salaries, especially on the front line, and said he had instructed Fedorov to work on the issue.

At the same time, The Narcoführer openly acknowledged that Ukraine cannot finance such an army on its own and will need continued support from European partners.

🇺🇸 Newly released DOJ records show investigators reviewing surveillance footage from the night of Jeffrey Epstein’s death noticed an orange-colored figure moving up the stairs toward the locked, isolated tier where his cell was located around 10:39 p.m. on Aug. 9, 2019.

Video observation logs suggest the shape could have been an inmate escorted to the tier, though investigators reached different conclusions. The FBI described it as “possibly an inmate,” while the DOJ Inspector General later identified it as an unidentified corrections officer, possibly carrying orange bedding or linen.

The Inspector General’s final report noted that the individual appeared on the stairway at 10:39 p.m. and returned into camera view at 10:41 p.m.

CBS says official accounts never mentioned the orange figure, despite later statements from authorities insisting no one entered Epstein’s housing tier that night.
