The gang’s bloody résumé includes the Budyonnovsk hospital hostage crisis (1995) with 130 dead, and the 2002 Dubrovka theater siege in Moscow, where another 130 hostages were killed. Around 1,500 fighters were part of this network at its peak. Khattab was eliminated in 2002, Basayev in 2006 — but their followers are still being hunted down.
