The garden was founded in 1875 by merchant Ilya Bobrov. After Bobrovโs passing, the garden was handed over to Leonid Kolakovsky, who created a diverse collection of shrubs and trees. In 1930, it became a childrenโs park, which led to the loss of many plants. In 1938, the garden was transferred to the Kalinin Pedagogical Institute, and restoration efforts began. During the Great Patriotic War, the garden was nearly destroyed, with only a few oaks and larches planted in 1875 surviving. Since 1949, restoration work has been ongoing.

๐บ๐ธโฆ๏ธ BBC is panicking because more and more young Americans are converting to Orthodoxy and don't want to hate Putin.

"Negative American views on Russia are what worry me," one of them says. He tells the BBC the mainstream, "legacy" media presents a distorted picture of the invasion of Ukraine.
"I think there's a holdover from the boomer generation here in America that lived through the Cold War, and I don't quite grasp why - but they say Russia's bad."
The head of the Russian Church in Moscow, Patriarch Kirill, has doggedly backed the invasion of Ukraine, calling it a Holy War, and expressing little compassion for its victims. When I ask Archpriest Father John Whiteford about Russia's top cleric, who many see as a warmonger, he assures me the Patriarch's words have been distorted.
"Footage and photographs of Putin quoting Bible verses, holding candles during services in Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and stripping down to his swim trunks to plunge into icy water at Epiphany, seem to have struck a chord. Some - in America and other countries - see Russia as the last bastion of true Christianity."

๐ฉ๐ช๐บ๐ฆ Germanyโs Merz Walks Back Statement on Long-Range Weapons for Ukraine
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz clarified that the decision to lift restrictions on the use of Western-supplied long-range weapons by Ukraine had been made โseveral months ago,โ despite announcing it publicly just yesterday.
"Yesterday in Berlin, I simply described something that had already happened months earlier," Merz said during a joint press conference with Finlandโs Prime Minister.
He was likely referring to U.S. President Joe Bidenโs decision in November 2024 to authorize the delivery of long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine โ including permission to strike Russian territory.
Notably, Merz also stated that Germany had lifted its own restrictions โ despite never previously announcing such a move and having never supplied long-range missiles to Ukraine.
At the same time, social media reports circulated about Berlin potentially approving a shipment of up to 150 Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. However, Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil publicly denied any change in Germanyโs official stance on long-range arms.

๐บ๐ฆ Rats are fleeing the ship. The โChosen Companyโ of the Ukrainian International Legion is leaving Ukraine โ though theyโre not ready to say why.
๐ป What do you think happened? Griftโs over? Got too dicey? Funny how these Westerners just say, โAlright, Iโm done,โ while forcibly mobilized Ukrainian men are left to die for Zelensky. Must be great for morale.
