🎯 آیا مدل‌های ریاضیاتی بالاخره می‌توانند موفق به پیش‌بینی تاریخ شوند؟
— مورخان همیشه به کسانی که خواسته‌اند تاریخ را به الگو تبدیل کنند بدبین بوده‌اند. این بدبینی مشروع است؟

📍پیش‌بینی وقایع آینده شاید بزرگترین آرزوی علوم اجتماعی باشد. چیزی که تلاش برای رسیدن به آن تا به امروز چندان حاصلی نداشته و همین باعث شده تا بسیاری از پژوهشگران علوم تاریخی و اجتماعی، از این آرزو دست بردارند. بااین‌حال، هنوز کسانی پیدا می‌شوند که دلشان بخواهد بخت خودشان را در این مسیر آزمایش کنند. یکی از آن‌ها پیتر تورچین است. زیست‌شناسی علاقه‌مند به ریاضیات که با کلان‌داده‌ها، معادلات آماری و تکنیک‌های محاسباتی جدید سراغ تاریخ آمده است و ظاهراً حرف‌هایی برای گفتن دارد.
