RT @DroughtGov: Spotlight on TX, where this hot, dry summer is mercifully ending soon.

June-Aug 2023 ranked as the 2nd hottest and 7th driest in the last 129 years.

But there’s good news. Rain has fallen this week and a lot more is coming in the next few days. drought.gov/states/texas @NOAA

RT @DroughtGov: Mississippi River water levels are dropping more than normal into the harvest for the 2nd year in a row.

The last 30 days were dry in the Upper and Lower Basins. The Missouri and Ohio River tributaries look better, but show dryness too. #drought drought.gov/watersheds @NOAA

RT @NWS: Hurricane conditions and coastal flooding are possible in portions of eastern Maine, southern New Brunswick, and western Nova Scotia on Saturday, and a Hurricane Watch is in effect for that area. Tropical storm conditions are expected on Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket where a Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect. Tropical storm conditions are possible elsewhere across New England and Atlantic Canada within the Tropical Storm Watch areas.

Heavy rainfall from Lee may produce localized urban and small stream flooding across eastern New England and into portions of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia from Friday night into Saturday night.

There is the potential for life-threatening storm surge flooding in portions of southeastern Massachusetts, including Cape Cod and Nantucket, late Friday and Saturday, where a Storm Surge Watch is in
effect. hurricanes.gov for the latest.

Record August temperatures confirmed summer 2023 was the hottest summer (June, July, August) in @nasa’s temperature record, by a large margin.🥵

These record-breaking months continue a long-term warming trend due to human activities. go.nasa.gov/3PhidYw twitter.com/NASAEarth/status…

RT @globalcommonshq: NEW: Exponential growth in #EV sales is transforming the auto sector faster than currently predicted.

🚗 EVs are set to surpass 2/3 of global car sales by 2030.

This growth puts at risk nearly half of oil demand.

RT @AniDasguptaWRI: EVs need to grow to 75-95% of passenger vehicle sales by 2030 to be consistent with a 1.5°C future.

In every country where EV sales reached 1%, they accelerated, following an S-curve pattern. The right investments can help unlock the transformation we need.

Countries like China, the Netherlands, and Norway have already shown that it is possible to grow EV sales fast enough to meet climate goals. See how exponential change gives other countries the opportunity to catch up in a new #SystemsChangeLab analysis: bit.ly/44VuCai - WRI Climate
