Yesterday, the Solar Ultraviolet Imager (#SUVI) onboard the #GOESEast 🛰️ observed modest #flares emanating from the Sun.

The dark "flash" was the satellite passing into the Earth's shadow. For the GOES satellites, there are two eclipse seasons; one in the Fall (Aug/Sept) and one in the Spring (March/April).

The Barkly Fire in the Northern Territory of Australia is being pushed westward toward the town of Tennant Creek by strong winds.

Over the last 12 days, the fire has grown over 2.5 million acres. The burn scar can be seen in this imagery.
