Senator Hickenlooper's visit was a great opportunity for our research community to highlight the observing systems that we have deployed all over the world to better understand atmospheric science and improve forecasts.

Our students did weather balloon and drone demonstrations on Tuesday. U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper released the balloon.

Weather balloons rise at a rate of about 1,000 feet per minute.
