Hoy se lleva a cabo el movimiento “Show your stripes” o “Muestra tus barras de calentamiento”, que ilustra de una forma sencilla la distribución de temperaturas en tu país. Basado en los datos entre 1892-2023, las barras o franjas azules representan temperaturas más frías de lo normal, y las barras o franjas rojas representan las temperaturas más calientes de lo normal. Cada año, con algunas variaciones, la tendencia de temperaturas es que cada vez está más caliente, basado en los datos entre 1892-2023.

¿Qué podemos hacer? Desde cambiar las luces de la casa a LED, sembrar árboles, instalar paneles solares, cambiar vehículos a híbridos o eléctricos, no construir cerca del mar, en zonas propensas a inundaciones o derrumbes, seguir los códigos de construcción, preparar las comunidades a manejar periodos de sequías extremas o huracanes intensos, cuidar tu salud, promover proyectos educativos, promover actividades agrícolas, prepararse financieramente, adquirir espacios para guardar alimentos y agua, restaurar áreas naturales, proteger vida marina, promover proyectos de empoderamiento de mujeres, establecer política pública, entre otras.

Los retos que enfrentamos: Crisis global y local en la esfera social, política, de salud, energética, fuegos forestales, deforestación, inseguridad alimentaria, escasez de agua potable, contaminación, olas de calor, recesión económica, huracanes extremos, problemas en la infraestructura, pérdida de biodiversidad y de tierra fértil, aumento de nivel del mar, erosión costera, etc.

Todo está conectado a lo que ocurre en la atmósfera y en el océano, y sus consecuencias en nuestra vida, por lo que actuar es extremadamente necesario.
