Happy Summer Solstice!

This imagery taken from Himawari-9 shows the terminator line peeling back across the Arctic over the last several weeks, as the amount of daylight the northern latitudes receives increases each day.

Today, there is 24 hours of daylight for the Arctic. https://t.co/kupdt5Xbcb

The #SummerSolstice will occur today at 4:51 p.m. ET in the Northern Hemisphere!

To celebrate the start of astronomical summer, take a look at how the angle of the sun changes from #solstice to #equinox and back again over the course of a year due to the Earth's 23.5° tilt. https://t.co/fMvsQ1Pqde

RT @NWSSpokane: According to the latest satellite imagery it should be a sun-filled day for most of the Inland NW. RT @WorldResources: It is with great sadness that World Resources Institute has received news of the passing of a true leader in climate science and advocacy, Dr. George Woodwell.

Among his many accomplishments, WRI is proud to have him as a founding member of our organization. Dr. Woodwell provided seminal testimony in the first Congressional hearing on climate change in 1986, sounding the alarm on the science behind climate change and the pressing need for action by governments. He devoted his life to advancing the understanding of the science and urgency in addressing the climate crisis.

It is our hope that the world will respond to his consistent call to act so as to leave a climate safe and equitable world for future generations.  WRI is proud to have our Director of Government Affairs, @ChristinaDeConc, serve on the @WoodwellClimate Research Center.
