Europe has to accelerate its own transformation of the space sector to remain a leader in the utilization of space for society, the economy and its people. While tackling immediate issues we shall never loose sight of our long term goals.

My vision is that by 2040 Europe will be a leader in space exploration, with Europeans on the Moon and European critical infrastructure serving LEO, Moon and Mars orbital and surface activities. We will continue to be leaders in EO, navigation, science and technology, and pioneers in sustainable space practices. The commercialisation of the space sector will create jobs and economic growth for Europe and its citizens.

To get there, we will rely on a strong, innovative and reactive European space industry. I draw a lot of energy meeting with industry, not only because I enjoy hearing their ideas and what they are imagining and developing, but also to receive their feedback to help transform ESA into the agile Agency they need to reach their ambitions.
