Our partnership at WWF-Kenya with Justdiggit is bringing to life a women-led landscape restoration initiative. Thanks to Earth Smiles—soil walls designed to collect runoff rainwater that would otherwise wash away over dry, barren ground, causing erosion and flash floods—instead, water is retained in the water bunds and absorbed into the soil, providing seeded perennial grasses a chance to grow.

We are giving a #SmiletoEarth through our landscape restoration project funded by The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (@BMUV), The Alliance for Restoration of Forest Ecosystems in Africa (AREECA) and the International Climate Initiative (@iki_germany).
