💡The bioeconomy is defined by the Commission as “all sectors and associated services and investments that produce, use, process, distribute or consume biological resources, including ecosystem services”.

❌There have been three main challenges identified for European bioeconomy development:

1⃣ increased pressure on land use;
2⃣higher demands for bio-based resources;
3⃣ adapted skills for the future workforce.

☹️It has been projected that by 2050 there will be a gap of approximately 40-70 % between supply and demands of biomass for food, materials, and energy.
