This is the first time an IPBES assessment meeting is being held in South Asia.

Dr. Anne Larigauderie, Executive Secretary of IPBES described the assessment “as the most complex assessment we have ever undertaken”

The assessment, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of Nepal and (ICIMOD), examines the interlinkages among the sustainable development goals related to food and water security, health for all, protecting biodiversity, and combating climate change.

ERS-2 (European Remote Sensing satellite) is coming back home.

🚀ERS-2 was launched in 1995

⏰@esa retired it in 2011, lowering its orbit to minimise the risk of collision with other satellites, and fully passivated the satellite

🌎After 13 years of orbital decay, mainly driven by ☀️solar activity, the satellite will now naturally reenter Earth’s atmosphere around mid-February
