How are they doing it?

It starts by digging small and shallow semicircular shaped pits - called 'bunds'. These fill up during rainfall, allowing the water to seep into soil and rehydrate the land, promoting vegetation regrowth.
About 315 000 bunds were dug in Sub-Saharan Africa.
