Under the @unbiodiversity Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, countries have committed to conserving at least 30% of land, inland waters and seas by 2030 through protected areas and other effective conservation measures, known as #Target3.

This goal is not only the protection of wildlife and landscapes. Healthy ecosystems support clean water supplies, food systems, climate regulation and resilience, and livelihoods for millions of people. This week in Tashkent, representatives of the five countries of Central Asia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus and the Russian Federation are working together to strengthen cooperation and identify practical national actions to advance Target 3 and ensure protected and conserved areas deliver benefits for both nature and people.
