RT @esa_earthcare: 🌀 EarthCARE's unique view of Typhoon Ragasa 🌀

This image shows the reflectivity from EarthCARE's cloud profiling radar (CPR), which took a vertical profile of the severe and, tragically, deadly storm as the satellite passed over it on 22 September.

The CPR is able to measure the internal structure of clouds, such as particles and water content. Deeper reds indicate denser regions of the cloud.

The multispectral imager also provides context to the CPR data, capturing the storm clouds in blue in a swath along the middle of the image.

The image shows the power of @ESA_EO and @JAXA_en's cloud and aerosol mission to see clouds from space like never before.

📸 Thanks to the EarthCARE DISC and Lorenzo Di Ciolo & Alessandro Piro of ESA for the image.
