The @ESA’s TRUTHS satellite mission will measure the Sun’s radiation and the sunlight reflected off Earth's surface relative to an accurate reference, which will then be used to improve the climatological data sets and calibrate the observations of other satellites, ensuring that they too will contribute long-term observations of the Earth's processes.
What does the PDR mean? This critical phase validates the design and demonstrates it can deliver its capabilities for climate monitoring, proves that the mission can be built around a re-use of the satellite platform from the Copernicus CRISTAL mission – and shows that the key technologies for TRUTHS are secure and present low risk to the mission's completion.
Now, TRUTHS is ready to go one step further before revealing all the secrets about the Sun's impact on Earth.
