In the news: The summer of 2023 was the warmest in the non-tropical areas of the northern hemisphere for 2,000 years, a new study using tree rings has shown. To compare how warm it is now compared with two millennia ago, scientists use climate proxies.

#IPCC's #ClimateChange 2023 Synthesis Report πŸ‘‰ https://t.co/zAMzd12lR7 shows that human activities, principally through emissions of greenhouse gases, have unequivocally caused #globalwarming, with global surface temperature reaching 1.1Β°C above 1850–1900 in 2011–2020.

It was the warmest April on record – the eleventh month in a row of record global temperatures – and northern hemisphere snow cover was the lowest on record for the month. Sea surface temperatures have been record high for the past 13 months.
