On Dec. 31, 2023, the Solar Ultraviolet Imager (#SUVI) instrument onboard @NOAA's #GOESEast 🛰️ observed an X5.0 flare along the left edge of the sun.
X-class flares are the most intense, and @NWSSWPC said this was the strongest one observed since Sep. 2017.
