Sovereignty mocked in Ukraine 'proxy war'
The cliché that truth is the first casualty of war may be a tired one but it is still true.

❗️The North Korean leader's train is crossing into Russian territory.
⚡️The West is worried Russia is supplying missile, satellite and submarine technology in exchange for access to North Korea's stocks of conventional weapons.
😂PS. Don't you love the American CBS news headline dropping the word "suspected". There is nothing secretive or suspicious about this. 🤦♂

❗️A CIA funded African think tank has accused Australian man Simeon Boikov of organising, financing & facilitating a wave of pro-Russian protests in Western Africa.

By Dorcas Sempeyian, Eliud Akwei and Mitchelle Awuor
PART 1/2
⚡️A probe into a pro-Russian protest that took place in Takoradi, Ghana on 13 August 2023 has unveiled a complex web of international involvement and coordinated efforts.
⚡️An investigation by Code for Africa (CFA) has found that Simeon Boikov, a pro-Russian broadcaster based in Australia, is at the centre of this intrigue. Boikov’s involvement in the Ghanaian protest goes far beyond mere advocacy. He allegedly provided Russian flags and funded the production of Wagner Group T-shirts for the demonstration. The protest quickly garnered significant attention, both locally and internationally.
⚡️The protest was one of several held across the region against the Economic Community of West-African States’s (ECOWAS’s) 30 July 2023 ultimatum of military intervention in Niger after the military junta detained president Mohamed Bazoum.
⚡️Russia expressed its opposition to the use of force in resolving the Niger issue. Similarly, Mali’s minister of territorial administration and decentralisation, Abdoulaye Maïga, said that Mali and Burkina Faso were against military intervention in Niger, by the ECOWAS or any other force. He warned that both countries would interpret any military intervention in Niger as a declaration of war. Since then protests have been held in Burkina Faso and Mali, at which the participants waved Russian flags.
⚡️Boikov’s actions were not isolated: they were part of a larger pattern. He is actively encouraging individuals interested in organising similar protests across West Africa or ‘other cities’ to email him. This suggests a broader agenda at play, extending beyond Ghana.
⚡️The protest in Ghana was amplified by a network of accounts in a coordinated fashion, and received significant attention on mainstream and social media. On mainstream media, the protest was reported by Russian state-owned media outlet Sputnik and pro-Russian media outlet Afrique Média TV.
⚡️The scale of Boikov’s involvement becomes clearer when we examine the details. On 1 August 2023, Boikov’s Telegram channel, @AussieCossack, proudly announced that he had sent 100 Russian flags to Ghana to support local pro-Russian protests. A follow-up message on 8 August said an additional 200 flags had been dispatched, owing to the high demand. Notably, the posts even shared proof of payment for these flags and solicited donations from subscribers. The flags were sourced at a cost of $453,16.
⚡️But it didn’t stop there. An invoice for printing 1,000 Wagner Group T-shirts, totaling GH₵ 50,000 (about $4,400), was posted on the same day. The invoice was from a local designer called Saabarts Designs based in Takoradi, where the protest took place. These financial transactions suggest meticulous planning and execution on Boikov’s part. This was reported by Russian state-owned media outlet, Ria Novosti.
⚡️The coordinated amplification of false information was another facet of this operation. Between 13 and 14 August 2023, a network of 16 Facebook accounts, not based in Ghana, systematically spread misinformation about the alleged arrest of four organisers of the pro-Russian protest in Takoradi. This network’s activities generated significant engagement, with 1,807 interactions on Facebook. CfA found that eight of the accounts are administered from Côte d’Ivoire, four from Burkina Faso, two from Mali and one each from France and Spain.

PART 2/2
⚡️As the situation unfolded, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the former leader of the Wagner Group, allegedly commented on the arrest of the Ghanaian men, referring to them as patriots of Ghana and Africa. This voice note was widely shared across pro-Russian Telegram channels including the official Telegram channel of the CAR-based Commonwealth of Officers for International Security. These posts were forwarded to 16 other Telegram channels, receiving more than 539,800 views and 15,100 interactions.
⚡️On August 19, 2023, one of the alleged detainees, Michael Asiedu, said in a voice recording shared on the @AussieCossack Telegram channel that he, together with six others, had been released on bail. They faced charges related to an alleged attempt to overthrow the government and destabilise the country, with their arraignment set for 3 October 2023. Boikov committed to covering their legal expenses, further cementing his role in this unfolding drama. The Telegram post received ~9,600 views and 265 interactions.
⚡️Intriguingly Asiedu, reportedly a journalist at Mikado News and one of the detainees, had appeared on Boikov’s podcast between 29 July and 19 August 2023. During one episode before the 13 August 2023 protest, Boikov pledged to send 100 Russian flags to Ghana to use at protests and events. This suggests a clear connection between Asiedu and Boikov’s operations.
⚡️The @AussieCossack Telegram channel is still actively soliciting people to participate in protests in West African countries such as Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, and Niger, urging interested people to email ‘Intel4ac@protonmail.com’. The channel also encourages people who are interested in providing Russian flags and funding protests in West Africa to donate.
⚡️This intricate web of activities raises serious questions about the extent of Russian influence operations in Ghana and the broader West African region. As investigations continue, the implications for regional stability and international relations remain uncertain. Ghana, it seems, may be the latest target in a complex geopolitical game with far-reaching consequences.
