The Death Penalty: No Evidence for Deterrence

What the paper simply write: there is no evidence, means no way to show with high quality scientific studies that cannot be applied at all, that a death sentence is effective.

What people understand when they read quickly just the title: a death sentence is not effective. This is not what the paper is saying! It clearly says there is no positive or negative evidence, because doing proper studies would be unethical, especially if we would removed all factors that influence such values.

This doesn't happen just with the prison, but even in many other topics. We cannot crash a plane to study what are the effects ... we cannot tell a patient "please eat 0 kcal, because i want to check how many days it requires before you die". There are so many scientific questions that cannot be answer, due to ethical problem with such studies ...

If the death penalty is not a proven deterrent to murder (= MEANS NO REAL POSITIVE STUDIES), is it worth the excessive costs, risks of error, uncertainty of completion, and other problems that are inherent to its practice? —> so since we cannot answer that by science, we use factors like errors during execution or the price to say "it's not ok" —> we cannot say "scientifically there is a negative evidence!"

Even saying "murders are less" is bullshit, like we showed in previous posts, because yes, maybe in one US state this is the case, in another one is totally fake saying that ...

Plus even if there is an increase or decrease, can we really say "it's due to the death sentence?". Canada was the best example. An increase without that ...

So instead of checking half of the information, let we really check facts:
- scientific evidence: NEUTRAL or better NOT POSSIBLE TO ANSWER DUE TO ETHICAL ISSUES
- more / less homicide = bullshit
- cost: not clear
- wrong sentence / errors: depends

The topic "Rape and Trans" is exactly the same!

- Trans women (= Men —> Women) are fighting to compete in women sport, but WE FORGET WOMEN RIGHTS! that should be respected too.

- Death sentence: we always talk about morders and drug traffickers BUT WE FORGET RAPERS, CANNIBALISTS, TERRORISTS, PEDOPHILES, ETC.!

- We talk about dignity of living BUT WE FORGET THE DIGNITY OF DYING

- We talk about some crimes in Ukraine or ..., BUT WE IGNORE ALL OTHER TYPE OF CRIMES

- We talk about the right to live, BUT WE FORGET THAT MOST PEOPLE GIVE A SHIT TO HOMELESS

- We talk about woman rape, BUT WE FORGET THAT EVEN MEN GET RAPED

- We talk about a nation or language, BUT WE FORGET THAT THE PLANET IS NOT MADE BY JUST 1 COUNTRY

- We talk about "now", BUT WE DON'T CONSIDER THE FUTURE (ex. depression, suicide due to rape, etc.)

- We talk about rights, BUT WE GIVE A SHIT IF SUCH RIGHTS ARE NOT RESPECTED! (not all)

Im Jahr 2012 standen in den 109 Einrichtungen insgesamt 6'978 Plätze zur Verfügung. Alle Einrichtungen in der Schweiz beherbergten gemäss Strafvollzugsstatistik2 am Stichtag (05.09.2012) 6'599 Gefangene. Davon waren 50,3 Prozent nicht verurteilt (2'051 Personen in Untersuchungshaft, 669 im vorzeitigen Strafantritt, 427 in Ausschaffungs- oder Auslieferungshaft und 172 in einer anderen Haftform). Der Frauenanteil betrug 4,9 Prozent. Die Belegungsrate betrug 94,6 Prozent.

Die Ausgaben von Bund, Kantonen und Gemeinden konsolidiert belaufen sich 2005 auf 138,4 Milliarden Franken. Bis 2010 sind sie auf 147,1 Milliarden Franken angestiegen
(+ 6,3 Prozent).

Die Aufwendungen für öffentliche Sicherheit, umfassend Polizei, Rechtsprechung, Feuerwehr, Forschung und Entwicklung (F-E) im Bereich der öffentlichen Ordnung und Sicherheit, Öffentliche Ordnung und Sicherheit nicht andersweitig genannt (n.a.g) und Strafvollzug, machen 9 Milliarden Franken oder 6,1 Prozent der Gesamtausgaben aus.

Davon fallen 2010 10,99 Prozent oder 993 Millionen Franken (0,67 Prozent der Gesamtausgaben) auf den Strafvollzug; sie stiegen zwischen 2005 und 2010 von 802 Millionen Franken um 191 Millionen Franken an (+ 24 Prozent).

Bei 6'200 Insassen fallen (für die 6'660 Plätze) ungewichtete Aufwendungen von 310 Franken pro Insasse und Tag an. Gewichtet kostet 2010 ein Haftplatz pro Insasse und Tag in der Untersuchungshaft 234 Franken und im Vollzug 390 Franken.
